What better time then NOW! That was my thought process on December 26th, 2018.
First, I want to give you a little background on my life so you can attempt to get inside my messy brain and follow along my reasoning for this new journey. It’s a little boring but just do it…
I grew up in Chattanooga, TN where my family is still located. I moved to Knoxville, TN when I was 18 and got my degree in Media Technologies/Photography from Pellissippi State. After working a few random jobs I eventually opened up my own photography studio! It started becoming pretty successful but I was offered a dream job (or what I thought was) that I couldn't turn down. I closed my studio and took this job that I thought would be a very long term thing for me. I was then smacked in the face with a little reminder that life doesn’t always go the way we plan. I was forced to leave the job and move back to Chattanooga with my family.
I started doing Virtual Assisting pretty much immediately as a short term job until I figured out what steps I would take next. Working for myself as a VA took off and I had multiple clients and was able to support myself on just that. The downside was sitting at home everyday for work. As nice as it was to stay in my pjs the entire day (lets be real, it was like 3 days straight in the same pjs sometimes), it was also pulling me into a bit of depression. My life had just changed drastically and I was now shutting myself off from the world, which if you know me, is not me at all. I love being around friends and family, meeting new people and constantly need to be doing something. This was not the only contributor to my random decision to travel but for the most part this was it.
So I posted in a Facebook group full of photographers asking what cheap ways I could travel with my car around the country. The response blew my mind. I had TONS of women telling me I could crash on their couch when I drove through their state! Not only that, but they also gave me an insane amount of encouragement to GO FOR IT!
I thought… well its now or never. So I sat down the day after Christmas and started planning out my route through the US. I decided to set the goal of visiting all 50 states in 2019!
I am excited to have you follow along this amazing journey with me!
